Ribbons

Ribbons is a new boutique cheesecake shop that focuses on baking the old fashioned way. I was approached in creating a brand identity that was bold, unique with a vintage charm.
A Magpie was required to be the central motif of the branding, which helped the brand stand apart from typical patisserie aesthetics. I developed a distinctive wordmark and emblem that convey the idea of each cheesecake as a small treasure.

When selecting a font for the logotype, I wanted something that reflected the vintage tone the brand required. The retro-inspired typeface Kooka was the perfect fit.
While exploring its letterforms, I discovered that by removing the stem of the ‘R’ and mirroring the remaining shape, it created a ribbon motif. A detail that made the font choice feel even more meaningful and aligned with the brand’s name.
